Privacy Notice

As a QTA student, we want you to be fully informed regarding the privacy of information we collect at enrolment and throughout your training and assessment. As an RTO, we collect your personal information so we can process and manage your enrolment in a vocational education and training (VET) course with us. We use your personal information to enable us to deliver VET courses to you, and otherwise, as needed, to comply with our obligations as an RTO.
If a person does not provide their name, USI, date of birth or contact details when enrolling in a course (or provides false details), they may not be able to enrol as a student, or receive a testamur or transcript of their training if they have enrolled.

NCVER Privacy Notice
Under the Data Provision Requirements 2012 legislation, QTA is required to collect personal information about you and to disclose that personal information to the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER).
Your personal information (including the personal information contained on your enrolment form) may be used or disclosed by QTA for statistical, administrative, regulatory and research purposes. QTA may disclose your personal information for these purposes to:

  • Commonwealth and State or Territory government departments and authorised agencies;
  • NCVER;

The NCVER is also authorised to disclose information to the following bodies:

  • the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE);
  • Commonwealth authorities; and
  • State and Territory authorities (other than registered training organisations).

Personal information disclosed to NCVER may be used or disclosed by NCVER for the following purposes:

  • populating authenticated VET transcripts;
  • facilitating statistics and research relating to education, including surveys and data linkage;
  • pre-populating RTO student enrolment forms;
  • understanding how the VET market operates, for policy, workforce planning and consumer information; and
  • administering VET, including program administration, regulation, monitoring and evaluation.

The NCVER may also disclose personal information to persons engaged by NCVER to conduct research on NCVER’s behalf. The NCVER does not intend to disclose your personal information to any overseas recipients. If you would like to seek access to or correct your information, in the first instance, please contact your RTO using the contact details listed below.
DESE is authorised by law, including the Privacy Act and the NVETR Act, to collect, use and disclose your personal information to fulfil specified functions and activities. You may receive a student survey which may be administered by a government department or NCVER employee, agent or third party contractor or other authorised agencies. Please note you may opt out of the survey at the time of being contacted.
NCVER will collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the NTVER Act, the National VET Data Policy and all NCVER policies and protocols (including those published on NCVER’s website at www.ncver.edu.au ).

Other Privacy Notices

Please note the following privacy issues as they apply to your circumstances:

  1. If your course has a CASA outcome, your personal details including your ARN (if applicable), course results and RPL evidence (if applicable) may be disclosed to CASA:
    • for verification or ruling purposes, or
    • with the submission of your CASA 465 Form.
  2. If your course has an EVET outcome, your personal details may be provided to the following:
    • your school for attendance and course progress purposes,
    • the online EVET portal for the purpose of registering your learning outcomes.
  3. If you have provided permission by signing the Confidentiality Statement on your QTA enrolment form:
    • Your personal information including learning progress and attendance may be disclosed to your employer.
    • Your name, employer (or school) and photograph may be used for QTA promotional purposes where not prohibited by law.
